Tallon Griekspoor from the Netherlands clinched the title of the Srpska Open held on clay at the Tenis Klub Mladost in Banja Luka. The No. 7 seed of the €46,600 ATP Challenger event defeated Sumit Nagal of India, the tournament’s No. 6, 6-2, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final.
Griekspoor advanced to the championship match with wins over French qualifier Fabien Reboul, Guilherme Clezar of Brazil, Facundo Mena of Argentina and Serbia’s Pedja Krstin. The 23-year-old Haarlem native converted five of his 21 break point chances to prevail after one hour and 30 minutes.
By lifting his second ATP Challenger trophy, following his triumph in Tampere, Finland last year, Griekspoor took away from Bosnia and Herzegovina €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
On Saturday, Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul of France won the doubles title. The No. 4 seeds beat Sergio Galdos from Peru and Argentine Facundo Mena 6-3, 7-6(4). The final lasted one hour and 20 minutes.
