Following his triumph at the Las Vegas Tennis Open two weeks ago, Vasek Pospisil secured his second straight title by winning the Charlottesville Tennis Challenger. The No. 10 seed fought past fellow Canadian and top seed of the $54,160 indoor hard-court event, Brayden Schnur, 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-2 in Sunday’s singles final at The Boar’s Head Resort.
Pospisil fired 12 aces and won 73 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after two hours and three minutes.

By lifting his ninth ATP Challenger career trophy, the 29-year-old took away from the United States $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
Pospisil, who underwent a back surgery to repair a herniated disc earlier this season, rises to World No. 153 in the ATP Rankings.
“They both feel great,” Pospisil told broadcaster Mike Cation following his second title win a row, quoted by the ATP Challenger Tour website. “Obviously, Vegas was amazing coming back from the surgery I had in January. I had a different perspective on the sport and on life. A lot of things have changed and it’s the first time I’m coming back from a major injury.
“You’re never quite sure how your body and your game is going to respond, being the first time. So far it’s much better than I expected. I put in a lot of hard work to come back to this level. I didn’t expect it to be this fast, but right now I’m feeling great.”
Earlier in the day, Mitchell Krueger from the United States and Slovenian Blaz Rola took the doubles title. The duo defeated US-American Sekou Bangoura and Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia 6-4, 6-1. The encounter lasted 55 minutes.
