Matteo Gigante of Italy captured the title of the Bangkok Open III, the third consecutive ATP Challenger Tour event held at the The Law Tennis Association Of Thailand in Nonthaburi.

Gigante defeated South Korean qualifier Seongchan Hong 6-4, 6-1 in Sunday’s singles final. The No. 7 seed of the $82,000 hard-court tournament won 83 per cent of his first-service points and broke his rival four times to succeed in one hour and 13 minutes.

World No. 171 Gigante advanced to the championship match with wins in the top half of the draw over French qualifier Arthur Weber, Gauthier Onclin of Belgium, top-seeded Croatian Duje Ajdukovic and Jason Jung of Chinese Taipei.
By winning his third ATP Challenger career crown following his triumphs in Tenerife, Spain and on home soil in Cordenons last year, the 22-year-old lefty from Rome earned $11,200 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.
