CAMPINAS, October 12, 2024

Seven of the top ten Brazilian players in the ATP rankings will compete in the Campeonato Internacional de Tênis de Campinas, an ATP Challenger 100 event and the second-largest tournament in Brazil. The tournament kicks off this Sunday at the Sociedade Hípica de Campinas, offering a prize pool of $133,000 and 100 ATP Ranking points for the champion. Entry for the public is free, but tickets can be reserved here. Tickets become available 24 hours before the first match of the following day and are limited.

Among the seven Brazilians competing, Felipe Meligeni Alves and Gustavo Heide have secured direct entries into the main draw. This marks Heide’s third appearance in this long-standing competition, celebrating its 14th edition in 2024. A native of Sao Paulo, Heide will have friends and family cheering him on in Campinas, where the crowd is known to be enthusiastic.

“This tournament is very special to me. It was my first Challenger event and my first Challenger win. Last year, I got injured in my opening match, but my expectations are high this time. I feel good, confident, and I’ve been performing well in the South American circuit. I’m highly motivated to end the year with the best ranking possible,” commented Heide.

“I haven’t played in front of a big crowd in Brazil, sometimes because I was up against another Brazilian, but I hope that a lot of fans will come to support me in my matches. I want to make the most out of this week in Campinas,” Heide added.

The qualifying rounds start this Sunday with eight spots available in the main draw, which begins on Monday alongside the final qualifying round. Six Brazilians—Pedro Sakamoto, Mateus Alves, Karue Sell, Matheus Pucinelli, and Daniel Dutra da Silva—will fight for a place in the main draw.
