Kristina Dmitruk defeats Yasmine Mansouri 6-4, 6-3 to claim the title of the third edition of The Campus Carby VW Ladies Open, an ITF World Tennis Tour W50 event held at the multi-sport complex in the heart of Quinta do Lago and supported by the Portuguese Tennis Federation.

The final, which was postponed to Monday morning due to rain disruptions throughout the week, saw the 21-year-old Belarusian (World No. 437) defeat the 23-year-old French player (World No. 411) in a match lasting one hour and 17 minutes. Dmitruk follows in the footsteps of past champions Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (2022) and Gabriela Knutson (2023) at the Algarve’s most prestigious tournament.

After defeating Matilde Jorge and Kristina Mladenovic the day before, Dmitruk managed to recover and return fresh for Monday’s final. She played with aggression and intensity, particularly during her return games, to secure the victory.

“I’m very happy. I’m not showing it yet, but I’m really happy inside,” she said with smiles, despite her exhaustion. “It was a tough week with all the interruptions and delays due to the rain, and right now, I just want to get home and sleep.”

Reflecting on what made the difference in the final, Dmitruk noted, “The most important thing was to be mentally strong, as most of the crowd was cheering for her, but I usually react well in such situations, and I managed to stay stable throughout the match.”

“I aimed for aggressive tennis from the start. I tried a lob and approached the net, which didn’t go well, so I changed my tactics to become more aggressive. I wasn’t aggressive the entire time, but I balanced it with stability, and it worked out,” she added.

Dmitruk had been sidelined between September 2023 and June 2024 due to a back injury, dropping out of the top 800 after previously ranking 216th in March of the previous year. With this title, her second of the season and fourth in her career, she climbs 74 spots to World No. 363 in the WTA Rankings. She leaves the Algarve with the ambition to finish the season among the top 300.
