MONTREAL, October 23, 2024 (Tennis Canada Press Release)

Tennis Canada announced the list of players who will compete at the 2024 Tevlin Challenger, an ITF World Tennis Tour W75+H event held from October 27 to November 3, 2024. Hosted at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto, Ontario, the tournament will be the final professional women’s event of the Canadian tennis season.

Leading the tournament as the top seed is world No. 210 Gabriela Knutson of Czechia. The 27-year-old won a title earlier this season at the W50 event in Portugal and hopes to finish the season inside the Top 200 for the second time in her career. Other top seeds include second-seeded Lucija Ciric Bagaric (No. 196) of Croatia, who won four W35 tournaments in 2024 and reached her first Grand Slam main draw at Roland-Garros, as well as eighth-seeded Robin Anderson (No. 260) of the United States, winner of the 2022 Tevlin Challenger.

Canadian tennis fans will have the opportunity to watch local talent in action, as Toronto native Katherine Sebov and Stacey Fung of Vancouver, British Columbia, will be taking part in the main draw. Sebov, world No. 331, is looking for her first title of the season after winning two on home soil in 2023, at the Saguenay National Bank Challenger and the W25 in Toronto. Fung, No. 264 in the world, will be looking for her second title of the season, having won a W35 tournament in Portugal last month. Kayla Cross (London, ON) and Isabelle Boulais (Oakville, ON) will be competing in the qualifying rounds for a place in the main draw.

“It’s always an exciting week here at Sobeys Stadium when we get to host some of the best players in the world for the Tevlin Challenger,” said Ryan Borczon, Tennis Canada’s Director of Professional Events.

“Unfortunately, this means the 2024 tennis season here in Canada is coming to a close on the women’s circuit, but we know it will end on a high note with such a great player field, including Canadian players for fans to cheer on.”
