Gerald Melzer and Horacio Zeballos will compete in Saturday’s final of the €42,500 Poprad Tatry Challenger Tour.
The sixth seed from Austria upset the tournament’s number one Martin Klizan, winning 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Melzer saved four of the eight break points he faced, converting six of his own to advance in two hours and 41 minutes.
Zeballos ousted with Andrej Martin the second remaining Slovakian in the draw, winning 6-3, 6-3. The 31-year-old Argentine won 82% of his first service points and capitalized on four of his 13 break point opportunities to prevail in one hour and 16 minutes.
Melzer and Zeballos will square off for the third time. Head to head records between the two is leveled at 1-1. The Austrian won the last encounter at the ATP Challenger in Morelos in three sets.
