GSTAAD, March 28, 2017
Organizers of the J.Safra Sarasin Swiss Open announced Tuesday that David Goffin will compete in the ATP 250 event held in Gstaad from 20 to 30 July 2017. The 26-year-old Belgian reached the quarterfinals of the 2017 Australian Open and was part of the Top 10 in February this year for the very first time.
Goffin, who is currently ranked World No. 12 and is the number 8 in the ATP Race to London, finished runner-up in Gstaad to Austrian Dominic Thiem in 2015.
“I love the tournament and I am looking forward to return to the Swiss Alps this year. The conditions suit my game very well and I hope for another successful week,” Goffin told.
The tournament’s organizers are happy to early present a world class player for the 102nd edition of the Swiss Open. “He is a very complete player, who is able to play outstanding tennis on every surface. The spectators will well remember his last appearance here and will look forward to seeing him return,” tournament director Jeff Collet stated.
New Ticket System
The organizers also presented the “Gstaad Tennis Jackpot”, in which spectators will have the chance to attend either the J.Safra Sarasin Swiss Open or the second edition of the Ladies Championships Gstaad, held the week before the men’s event for 25,- CHF.
Fans have to buy a ticket via www.swissopengstaad.ch or www.ladieschampionshipgstaad.ch and a random generator will determine its final day of validity.
“Attending a tennis tournament should be affordable to everyone. With these kind of tickes, a four-person familiy will have the chance to enjoy one day of tennis for 100,- CHF. Students, who will have a semester break during this time, will be pleased with the possibility,” co-tournament director Julien Finkbeiner explained.
