PARIS, June 9, 2017 (Press Release)
This year’s “Roland-Garros in the City” programme in Shanghai, taking place from 9 to 11 June, is sure to set spirits soaring. The highlights include the chance to visit the highest tennis court in the world, a clay court built on the helipad at the top of the Sinar Mas Center, at an altitude of 320 metres.
Visitors to the tower, which is the tallest in Shanghai’s Puxi district, are in for a real treat. In addition to the tennis court, they can enjoy panoramic views of the city.
The famous actor Jin Dong, Roland-Garros’s first-ever ambassador to China, inaugurated the court.
Also part of the programme, which is sponsored by Perrier and Longines, is a “Village” inspired by the one at Porte d’Auteuil, set up in a spacious mansion in the trendy French Concession area. Furthermore, a Roland-Garros themed bus will be roaming the city’s streets.
“Roland-Garros in the City” is also gracing New York from 9 to 11 June. Brookfield Place in Lower Manhattan (Downtown) will be the main venue for the events in the Big Apple, which are sponsored by Longines, BNP Paribas and Lacoste. A clay court and a giant screen on which to follow matches are among the attractions inviting visitors to dive into the Roland-Garros spirit.
