BASTAD, July 4, 2017
The Swedish Tennis Federation announced Monday that local youngsters Elias and Mikael Ymer received wild cards into the main draw of the second edition of the €43,000 Bastad Challenger, held on outdoor clay courts from 10 to 15 July 2017.
The brothers are looking forward to compete on home soil again. The pair captured the doubles trophies at the Stockholm Open in October last year. Tennis action in one of Sweden’s most typical summer resorts will continue the week after the ATP Challenger event with the ATP 250 Swedish Open, which has been held every year since 1948.
“To play in Båstad is always a highlight of the year. The fact that there are two consecutive tournaments makes it even more fun,” said 21-year-old Elias Ymer, who will also compete in the Ski Star Swedish Open the week later.
“It’s always very special for me to play in Båstad and it is very positive that we have a challenger tournament at home now,” said 18-year-old Mikael Ymer, who is making his tournament debut.
The Swedish Tennis Federation offers a live stream of the matches via Tennis.se.
