BRAUNSCHWEIG, July 12, 2017
The €127,000 Sparakssen Open in Braunschweig suffered a washout on Wednesday when all scheduled matches could not be finished due to consistent rain.
“Due to weather, there will be no more matches played today,” the tournament’s organizers announced in the afternoon.
Eight last 16-matches were planned but only fourth seed Carlos Berlocq from Argentina and Spanish teenager Nicola Kuhn took to Centre Court. Their encounter was suspended at 2-2.
Jozef Kovalik from Slovakia is leading 3-2 over Italian Marco Cecchinato on Court 11. Germany’s Yannick Maden and French qualifier Axel Michon were at same score on Court 5 when the match was suspended. Sixth seed Norbert Gombos and Viktor Galovic from Croatia were only in the third game.
All second round matches as well as the quarterfinals will be played on Thursday. Matches start at 10:30 am local time.
