Maximilian Marterer and Tamara Korpatsch lead the line-up for the German National Tennis Championships, held from 10 to 17 December 2017 in Biberach an der Riß. The event will consist of women’s and men’s singles draws as well as a mixed doubles competition.

“We are pleased with this strong and competitive field this year,” tournament director Rolf Schmid told on Wednesday morning.

“Although some of the big names are missing, we can look forward to great fights for the titles with the strongest players from the second row as well as with some of the most promising youngsters,” added Thomas Heil, newly elected Vice President of the German Tennis Federation (DTB) for competitive sports.

The women’s line-up is led by Germany’s No. 10 Tamara Korpatsch. The 22-year-old from The Club an der Alster captured the $60,000 ITF clay court tournament in Hechingen this year. Korpatsch will be joined by Germany’s No. 12 Anna Zaja from TEC Waldau Stuttgart, Antonia Lottner from TC Red Blue Regensburg and Katharina Hobgarski from BASF TC Ludwigshafen.

Marterer leads the men’s entry list. The 22-year-old, who practices at the TennisBase in Oberhaching is currently ranked World No. 90, making him the highest ranked player competing in the National Championships 2017. Marterer, who finished runner-up to Michael Berrer last year, will face tough competition with Davis Cup players Yannick Hanfmann, Daniel Masur and local hero Yannick Maden from TEC Waldau Stuttgart. Youngsters Marvin Möller, Rudolf Molleker and Louis Weßels will also compete in Biberach.
