Sergiy Stakhovsky and Kenny de Schepper are the last two seeded players left in the singles draw of the €43,000 Koblenz Open.
Stakhovsky eased past Mohamed Safwat of Egypt 6-2, 6-1 on Friday evening. The No. 3 seed from the Ukraine won 83 per cent of his first service points and capitalized on all of his five break point chances to advance in only 47 minutes.
Stakhovsky will take on Mats Moraing in the semi-finals. The German wild card entry defeated Yasutaka Uchiyama of Japan 6-4, 7-6. Moraing saved all five break points he faced, capitalizing on one of his own two chances to seal victory in one hour and 24 minutes.
Ilya Ivaskha knocked out the tournament’s No. 5 Yannick Maden from Germany. The 23-year-old from Belarus fired 12 aces, winning 65 per cent of the total points played to finish the encounter in 54 minutes. Ivashka will next challenge sixth favourite Kenny de Schepper. The big-hitting Frenchman rallied past Alexey Vatutin of Russia 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 in just under two hours of play.
