The Florida State Seminoles swept the Florida Gators Saturday night at the USTA National Campus. Both the men and women were victorious in front of a record crowd of nearly 2,000 fans and a national television audience, as the match aired live on Tennis Channel.
The story of the night was the Florida State women, who knocked off the defending national champion Florida Gators, currently ranked No. 3 in the country, for only the second time in program history. Coming into the match, Florida led the all-time series 55-1, with the Seminoles’ lone win coming in 2009. Florida State took the doubles point and cruised to a 4-1 win.
On the men’s side, the No. 22 Seminoles rallied from a 3-1 deficit, knocking off the No. 8 Gators for the second year in a row, by of a score of 4-3.
