Spain will host Germany in April’s Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group quarterfinals at the Plaza de Toros in Valencia. The bullring is situated in the Centro district of the city. It has a seating capacity of 10,600 and was built between 1850 and 1859 and follows the neoclassical style.

The tie between Spain and Germany will be held on clay from 6 to 8 April 2018. It will be the 17th meeting between the two nations, the first since 2014. Germany leads 10-6.

Germany also won their last contest in the World Group first round in Frankfurt four years ago, and will hope for a repeat performance as they target a place in the semi-finals for the first time in 11 years.

“It is always a big challenge to face Spain away,” Germany’s Davis Cup captain Michael Kohlmann commented. “We await a very emotional atmosphere but in our first round in Australia we proved that we can keep a cool head.”

Spain has not progressed to the stage of the final four nations since 2012 when they went on to finish runner-up to Czech Republic in Prague. Sergi Bruguera, captain of the Iberians, will hope for the return of Rafael Nadal, who didn’t play in the opening round when Spain beat Great Britain 3-1 on clay in Marbella.
