After falling in the final of the Granby National Bank Challenger last year, Peter Polansky from Canada has gotten his revenge.

In Sunday’s final, Polansky defeated Ugo Humbert of France 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. The match was the pair’s second clash in as many weeks. Humbert prevailed in Gatineau last week in a three-hour battle in which he fought off four match points. This week, the 30-year-old Ontarian bounced back from a tough second set and settled the score after one hour and 49 minutes.

“I’m very happy to be leaving here with the title this year. I tip my hat to the work that Ugo has accomplished in the past two weeks. He’s a player with a lot of potential and he’s also a great guy. The tournament in Granby is special to me. I really appreciated the support from fans all week,” said Polansky.

The No. 3 seed earned his 18th professional title and third on the Challenger Circuit. The victory will propel Polansky twelve places in the rankings to world no.122—a career high.

Glushko wins women’s event

In the women’s event, Julia Glushko of Israel got the better of her close friend Arina Rodionova of Australia in two sets 6-4, 6-3. It was their fifth duel and Glushko’s fourth win in their head-to-head. The fifth seed was in control from beginning to end and claimed her third title this season.

“It’s never easy to play against a good friend, but I’m very happy with how I played. It’s as if something clicked since I started working with my coach (Karen Shlomo). I hope I’ll be able to build on it,” said Glushko.
