MILAN, November 11, 2018
Stefanos Tsitsipas is the champion of the second edition of the Next Gen ATP Finals. The No. 1 seed from Greece battled past the tournament’s No. 2 Alex de Minaur from Australia 2-4, 4-1, 4-3(3), 4-3(3) in Saturday’s championship match in Milan.
Tsitispas sent down 10 aces, winning 77 per cent of his first service points and 54 per cent of the total point played to prevail after one hour and 40 minutes.
“It feels great. I’ve been playing some great tennis this week here in Milan,” Tsitsipas said. “It was a fantastic match. I stayed calm although I had a chance twice to win the match, but remained calm. I was aiming to win that match. I was mentally very strong and that was proven in the tie-break in the last set.”
Tsitsipas joins inaugural titlist Hyeon Chung as undefeated champions at the Next Gen ATP Finals, earning $407,000 in prize money.
