Elise Mertens and Kei Nishikori are the champions of the Hawaii Open presented by the Hawaii Tourism Authority, a three-day exhibition tennis tournament held December 21-23, 2018, at the Blaisdell Arena in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii.
Championship Sunday began with the women’s final when Mertens beat Eugenie Bouchard 2-6, 7-5, 12-10. The intense game was a crowd pleaser as the players went into a dramatic third set tiebreak. Mertens emerged as the Champion and was presented with a trophy from Honolulu Director of Parks and Recreation Michele Nekota and a bicycle from Urbanized Bikes.

The Men’s Championship Match followed, pitting Nishikori against Milos Raonic. The stadium was packed with cheering fans as the players engaged in a highly competitive match. Nishikori won 7-6, 7-6 and it truly was a great game of tennis. Rick Fried of the Hawai’i Tourism Authority presented the Championship trophy and Nishikori also received a bike from Urbanized Bikes as a prize.
