Seeds Announced For Davis Cup Finals

The International Tennis Federation has announced the seeds for the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Finals Draw, taking place on Thursday 14 February at the Real Casa de Correos in Madrid at 6pm (GMT).

The 18 nations competing in this year’s Finals are:

Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Russia, Serbia, Spain and USA.

The seedings are based on the new Davis Cup Nations Ranking of 4 February. The new Ranking system was updated in 2019 to reflect the new format of the competition.

The six seeded nations for the Finals, who will be drawn into position 1 across Groups A-F, are:

1. France (Nation Ranking 1)

2. Croatia (2)

3. Argentina (3)

4. Belgium (4)

5. Great Britain (5)

6. USA (6)

The remaining nations are ranked 7 to 18 in accordance with their Davis Cup Ranking:

8. Serbia (8)

9. Australia (9)

10. Italy (10)

11. Germany (11)

12. Kazakhstan (12)

13. Canada (14)

14. Japan (17)

15. Colombia (18)

16. Netherlands (19)

17. Russia (21)

18. Chile (22)

Nations ranked from 7 to 12 will be drawn randomly into Groups A-F taking position 2 in such group. Nations ranked 13 to 18 will be drawn randomly into Groups A-F, taking position 3 in such group.

The 18 nations competing in the finals were confirmed on Saturday following the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Qualifiers. The 12 losing nations from the Qualifiers will compete in the Zone Group competition with the Groups allocated according to the new Davis Cup Nations Ranking and the Draw taking place on Wednesday 6 February.
