Netuschil Sets Semi-Final Clash With Top Seed Lenz At Karlsruhe Open

KARLSRUHE, June 8, 2019

The semi-finals at the Karlsruhe Open are set. Top seed Julian Lenz advanced to the stage of the final four at the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 clay-court event without dropping a set. The World No. 377 from Germany defeated Gonzalo Villanueva of Argentina 6-3, 6-0 on a rain-interrupted Friday in Karlsruhe.

Lenz fired six aces, winning 81 per cent of his first service points to advance in only 53 minutes. Up next will be compatriot Marvin Netuschil. The No. 7 seed edged past Colin Sinclair from the Northern Mariana Islands 6-4, 6-2. The encounter lasted one hour and 26 minutes.

Second seed Andrea Pellegrino of Italy benefited from the retirement of Frenchman Manuel Guinard facing No. 6 seed Geoffrey Blancaneaux of France in the semi-finals.
