Roger Federer announced plans to play at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“I’ve been debating with my team for a few weeks now what I should do in the summertime after Wimbledon and at the end of the day my heart decided I would love to play the Olympic Games again,” the 38-year-old from Switzerland, a four-time Olympian, said during an exhibition event for Uniqlo on Monday.

Federer had previously planned his schedule up to Wimbledon, which ends two weeks before the Tokyo Games. However, the World No. 3 will need a wild card exemption in order to play because he has not played in David Cup ties to qualify.
Federer won doubles gold for Switzerland with Stan Wawrinka at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and silver in singles at the 2012 London Games at Wimbledon but missed the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics with an injury.
