HALLE/WESTFALEN, January 14, 2020

The Gerry Weber Stadium will become the OWL Arena. This was announced by the OWL Sport & Event GmbH & Co. OHG, formerly known as Gerry Weber Management & Event, in a press release on Tuesday. OWL is an abbreviation for the region Ostwestfalen-Lippe (East Westphalia-Lippe).

The renaming of the event arena is part of a new one concept in which up to 16 well-known sponsors from the region of East Westphalia-Lippe are involved, including many long-term supporters of the worldwide renowned GRASS COURT OPEN HALLE. The ATP 500 event remains the lighthouse project and heart of the event calendar in Halle.

Due to the separation of the naming rights for the arena and the ATP tournament, a broader and more economical setup is possible. As a result, the OWL Sport & Event GmbH Co. OHG partnership made agreements for the arena concept with the following companies from the East Westphalia-Lippe region: DSC Arminia Bielefeld GmbH & Co.KGaA, August Storck KG, Beresa OWL GmbH & Co. KG, DMG MORI AG, Gauselmann AG, Gehring-Bunte Getränke-Industrie & GmbH & Co. KG, heristo AG, Hörmann KG Verkaufsgesellschaft, Johannes Lübbering GmbH, Porta Holding GmbH & Co. KG, Schüco International KG, Wortmann AG and the newspaper publisher Neue Westfälische GmbH & Co. KG.

“A total of 13 partners are in the process of further discussions with interested companies,” says Gerry Weber, manager of the OWL Sport & Event GmbH Co. OHG.

The 28th edition of the Grass Court Open Halle, one of eight grass-court events on the ATP Tour calendar, will be held inside the OWL Arena from June 15 to 21, 2020.
