STARNBERG, June 23, 2020

The intermediate stage of the Tannenhof Resort German Men’s Series held at the Versmold Tennis Park has been canceled. The First Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Armin Laschet, announced a new lockdown for the region, as a Corona outbreak at a meat factory in Gütersloh county is growing. So far, as many as 1,553 persons tested positive.

The tournament officials of the German Tennis Federation (DTB) immediately reacted together with the organizers in Versmold.

“The cancellation in Versmold was without alternative,” says DTB sports director Klaus Eberhard. “The health of the players and everyone involved is top priority.”

The Tennis Center Moraing in Mühlheim an der Ruhr will be the new venue. Matches will start there Wednesday morning. In the meantime, the first matches of the intermediate stage are underway in Bavaria, at the Tennis Club Großhesselohe and at the TennisBase Oberhaching.
