Brazilian teenager Gustavo Heide and veteran Daniel Dutra da Silva will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the O Ano II – Tennis Open. The clay-court tournament is part of the Circuito Brasileiro de Profissionais da CBT and is taking place from December 14 to 20 at the Academia Paulistana de Tênis in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Eighteen-year-old Heide overcame Paulo André Saraiva 6-2, 7-6(8). Heide missed to serve the match out at 6-5 in the second set, saved two set points in the tie-break to eventually secure victory.

“I knew that it would become a difficult tie-break but I stayed calm and closed the match out,” the current World No. 18 in the ITF Juniors Ranking said.

Thirty-two-year- old Dutra da Silva, winner of last week’s São Paulo Tennis Cup, celebrated his 27th win in his last 29 matches thanks to a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Gabriel Tumasonis.

“In the important moments I served very well and that made a difference. I managed to break at the end of the first and at the beginning of the second set and sealed the win with my serve, which was fundamental,” Dutra da Silva said.

Ciro/Oliveira clinch O Ano II – Tennis Open doubles title

In other action, Christian Oliveira and Gabriel Ciro took the doubles title with a 7-6(3), 6-4 win over Paulo André Saraiva and Marcio Silva.

“We played very well during the week. Our partnership also works off the courts, we are good friends. This helps a lot and and I hope to play alongside Ciro more often,” said Oliveira.

We won the tournament, even though we hadn’t played together in a long time, but we are good friends on and off the court,” Ciro added.
