STUTTGART, May 12, 2021
The 2021 MercedesCup will be held from June 7 to 13. This was confirmed after negotiations between e|motion sports as the organizer of the grass-court tournament in Stuttgart and the ATP on the one hand, as well as the ATP and those responsible for the French Tennis Federation (FFT) on the other.
“Due to the postponement of the French Open by a week and the date conflict with the MercedesCup, some obstacles had to be cleared out of the way, but in the end there was a positive solution that was acceptable to all three parties,” emphasizes tournament director Edwin Weindorfer.

“Of course the situation with the French Open harbors some uncertainties, but we have received very positive signals from numerous players regarding a start at the MercedesCup. Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner will play at the Tennis Club Weissenhof depending on their results in Paris. Nick Kyrgios will come to Stuttgart next June, as he will not compete at Roland Garros,” explains Weindorfer.
Due to the special situation and the date conflict with the second week of the French Open, those responsible for the MercedesCup have made some “special agreements” with the ATP. Five main draw wild cards will be awarded instead of the usual three. In order to be able to react as quickly as possible to developments at Roland Garros, qualifying begins on Monday, June 7, and main draw action will start on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
Last year’s tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis.
