FFT Press Release, February 2, 2022
Every year since 1980, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) has brought the contemporary art world together with Roland-Garros by entrusting the task of designing the official tournament poster to an artist. Following its latest selection process, the FFT gave the young French figurative painter Louise Sartor the honour of creating the poster for Roland-Garros 2022, to be held from 16 May to 5 June.
Aged 33 and a graduate of the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Sartor has chosen the tournament’s ball kids as the subject for her poster. The artist said they had made quite an impression on her when she visited the tournament in 2021. In designing the poster, she delved into her artistic world and sensibility to express her vision of Paris’ Grand Slam tournament.
