At the suggestion of Gilles Moretton, President of the French Tennis Federation, the FFT Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Cédric Pioline has been appointed as Director of the Rolex Paris Masters.
At age 52, Cédric Pioline will be Director of the Rolex Paris Masters for the next three editions of the tournament, which will benefit from his wealth of skills and experience. His mission will be to coordinate the organisation of the RPM, alongside the FFT, and to further improve its positioning as a major tournament while promoting the event in France and abroad.In this new role, Cédric Pioline will be the main point of contact for the players and the international tennis authorities, particularly the ATP. He will work in close collaboration with the partners and broadcasters of the Parisian Masters 1000.
A former professional tennis player (from 1989 to 2002), Cédric Pioline won five singles titles, including the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo (in 2000). In the Grand Slams, he reached the final at the US Open in 1993 and at Wimbledon in 1997 (defeated both times by American player Pete Sampras). He also represented France and won the Davis Cup on two occasions (in 1996 and 2001). He achieved his highest ever singles ranking in 2000 when he became world No.5.
After bringing his playing career to a close, Cédric Pioline became co-director of the Rolex Paris Masters between 2003 and 2009, and was in charge of the FFT’s elite men’s branch from 2007 to 2009. He was then appointed as deputy captain of the French Davis Cup team from 2016 to 2018, alongside Yannick Noah. Meanwhile, he regularly appeared as a pundit on television and radio.
