While the majority of the attention within the tennis world has gone towards paying tribute to Roger Federer in the past few days, there is still competitive action to look forward to. One of the reasons we love tennis is the unpredictability and upsets that come with it, but here are our predictions to help you beat the best offshore sportsbooks for the San Diego and Moselle Open tournaments.

San Diego Open & Moselle Open Predictions

Two heavy favorites found their way into a semifinal matchup in San Diego, California. Dan Evans cruised his way to the final four of the San Diego Open. Evans won in straight sets in the Round of 16 and again in the Quarterfinals. On the other side, Marcos Giron has had a bit tougher of a run. In the Quarterfinals, he etched out a win over the 7-seed Duckworth. He has faced some tough opponents in this Open such as Duckworth and Etcheverry. However, he has found victory in every match to reach this showdown. Evans has opened as the favorite where he currently sits at -185 to win the match. The spread is set at -2.5 and has floated around -2. I expect another victory for Evans although this one may not come as easy.

Prediction:

Evans in 3 sets.

Hubert Hurkacz has looked nothing but dominant as he is attempting to win back-to-back titles in the Moselle Open. He has smoothly made his way to the semifinals and will now take on Lorenzo Sonego. Sonego is an Italian native that has made an impressive run in this open. He has taken down some big names early on such as Korda and Karatsev. Sonego has also given Hurkacz trouble in the past. Although I expect Hubert to come out victorious, I don’t expect it to be smooth sailing this go around. Sonego is a young gun trying to take down the experienced veteran. I think Hurkacz experience will elevate him to victory but it will come at a cost. Don’t be surprised if Sonego takes the first set before Hubert steps on the gas pedal. We could be in for a deep match between these two. Their history suggests we should expect 3 sets. Nothing in my mind can see Sonego taking down Hurkacz in this spot but crazier things have happened. I think Sonego puts a little bit of fear into the veteran with a hot start but as the players get settled in things will fall in favor of the veteran.

Prediction:

Sonego +3.5

With both of these matches being in the semi-finals, I expect some exciting action coming our way. Both matchups have seen some intriguing H2H history with some being more lop-sided than others. In terms of futures bet, I would lock in Hurkacz to defend his title at the Moselle Open. I would also sprinkle Evans or Nakashima to take home the hardware in San Diego.
