Caty McNally has officially earned a spot in the 2023 Australian Open main draw after winning the women’s Australian Open Wild Card Challenge.
The 20-year old Cincinnati native earned 189 points by qualifying and reaching the quarterfinals at the WTA 500 in Ostrava, Czech Republic (125 points), reaching the semifinals at an ITF W60-level event in the Slovak Republic (29 points) and qualifying and reaching the quarterfinals at a WTA 125-level event in Rouen, France (35) points).
The final women’s standings are below, with each player’s current WTA ranking in parenthesis. Their point totals reflect ranking points earned at a maximum of three hard-court events over the last five weeks.

3. Taylor Townsend (No. 131) — 130

Should McNally earn direct entry into the Australian Open when the entry lists are made on December 5, the wild card will go to the next eligible American in the Challenge points standings who doesn’t earn direct entry.
The Men’s Challenge began last week and runs through the week of November 14. The men’s wild card will be awarded to the American with the most points earned from a max of three events during the four-week window. All indoor and outdoor hard-court and carpet events at the 25 level and above, including ATP and Challenger events, will be included in the Challenge. The USTA and Tennis Australia have a reciprocal agreement in which main draw wild cards for the 2023 Australian Open and US Open will be exchanged.
Wild card recipients will have to follow all Australian Open protocols as it relates to quarantine or vaccination.
