After over three years of highly successful collaboration, the Austrian Tennis Federation (ÖTV) and Joel Schwärzler are now parting ways. The contract with the ÖTV player has been mutually dissolved, allowing the 18-year-old from Vorarlberg to take the next steps in his career with a newly assembled team. As a result, Schwärzler will no longer train at the ÖTV Performance Center in Südstadt, close to Vienna.

“I can’t thank Jürgen (Melzer) enough. Without him and the team at the Südstadt Performance Center, I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today,” the World No. 374 expressed with gratitude. “However, I believe the time has come for me to stand on my own feet and put together my own team. This is the next step in my development,” Schwärzler said.

“We can truly be proud of what we’ve achieved together. It was great to work with Joel and help him further develop his enormous potential. I wish him all the best for his future. Of course, the Austrian Tennis Federation will continue to support him as much as possible on his way to the top,” said ÖTV Sports Director and Davis Cup captain Jürgen Melzer.

“The primary task of my team at ÖTV and myself is to develop players up to a certain level and then transition them into their own structures – we’ve done that very well in Joel’s case. Together, we’ve brought Joel to the top of the junior world rankings and supported him as he transitioned into men’s tennis, reaching the top 400 in the world. It’s the right moment for Joel to build his own team – with a coach who is fully dedicated to him and can travel with him to tournaments week after week,” he added.
