MUNICH, April 22, 2017
Tommy Haas arrived Friday at Munich’s Airport for another stop of his farewell tour in Germany. According to the principle “good preparation is the key to success”, the 39-year-old German arrived early in the capital of Bavaria in order to focus on his competition at the BMW Open by FWU, held from 1 to 7 May 2017 at the venue of the MTTC Iphitos.
It will be Haas’ last appearance at the ATP 250 clay court event. The Hamburg native will end his career as professional tennis player by the end of this season.
“I am really looking forward to the event. It will be another unique and highly emotional experience,” Haas said. Before leaving the airport, Haas took the opportunity to hit a few balls with some kids on the tennis courts located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The tennis youngsters didn’t miss the opportunity to take a photo together with the former World No. 2.
“It’s great to see you playing here. This is a great event here. I wish you all the best,” Haas told the kids.
Haas will open his Munich campaign on Monday, May 1. The veteran entered the main draw with protected ranking (No. 25).
“I will bring my best tennis to Munich in order to go as deep as possible in the draw. I am looking forward to enjoy this great, familiar atmosphere at the MTTC Iphitos. The fans have been giving me a lot of support over the last 20 years and I want to give them something back. This would mean a lot to me,” Haas stated.
Tickets for the final weekend of the €540,000 event are sold out. For further information please visit the tournament’s official homepage.
