Elias Ymer and Robin Söderling have officially parted ways. The 22-year-old Swede and the former World No. 4 started working together at the ATP Challenger event in Bastad in July last year, but Söderling confirmed via his Twitter account that their coaching relationship had amicably come to a close.

About one month after the start of their collaboration Ymer clinched his third ATP Challenger career title in Cordenons as well as in Mouilleron-Le-Captif later in the year to crack the Top 150. This season, Ymer qualified for the main draw at the Australian Open and Roland Garros and he is on a verge of reaching the Top 100, being currently ranked World No. 108.

Robin says that he is busy with his company RS Tennis and has two little children at home. That is why he cannot travel with a player for so many weeks. He never thought to become a coach, but when Elias called him last year and asked him to help, he agreed to travel together for about 10 weeks plus more weeks of practice units in Sweden.  They changed some details in Elias’ play pattern and technique and especially improved his serve. Robin will always be available for Elias and give him some advice when he needs it.

For Elias the collaboration with Robin was something completely new. The work was harder than before and at the beginning he had some doubts about where he was going. But he trusted Robin 100 per cent and followed his advice. The result was that he improved in his ranking by 180 positions and won two Challengers. He will look for a whole time head coach to travel with him and work hard to realize his dreams and make the Swedish people proud of men’s tennis.
