STARNBERG, September 19, 2018
World No. 98 Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium has announced the end of her season.
“I decided to finish my tennis season here and do not go to Asia anymore. After a few injuries, I can give my body some rest to be completely ready by the beginning of next year. I am very satisfied with the work I have done over the past few months under the guidance of Steve Darcis. I notice that my level is rising again and I have been able to take the necessary steps to go into the winter with a positive feeling. In the following months I will mainly focus on training and rehabilitation,” Wickmayer stated through a press release on Monday.
The 28-year-old captured one title in 2018 at the $25,000 ITF Pro Circuit event in Surprise, United States. Wickmayer played her last match of the year at the US Open, losing to Petra Kvitova in the first round.
