Following a triumph in Ljubljana, Blaz Kavcic has won a second consecutive national professional tennis event in Slovenia by clinching the trophy of the Tennis Festival Portoroz. The 33-year-old defeated Tom Kocevar Desman 7-6(1), 6-0 in Saturday’s final.

“It was a great match. Tom played really well but I was focused right from the beginning, as I was aware
that I will have to do my best,” said Kavcic, who is currently ranked World No. 288.

“It is always something special playing at home. It is very different, as we are usually abroad at this time. This week I felt really good in Portoroz, it was a special atmosphere. Thanks to Tennis Slovenia for making a good job in organizing this tournament.”

At the beginning of the week, Kavcic revealed his plan to return to the international circuit with the start of the French Open at Roland Garros next month.
