STARNBERG, September 19, 2021

The WTA Tour will return to Linz, Austria later this year. This was announced by the organizers of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz on Sunday. The WTA 250 tournament was originally scheduled for October 10 to 17, but will now definitely take place from November 6 to 12.

“I am very happy that we were able to fix an attractive date at the beginning of November. Due to Covid-19, the WTA calendar has been turned upside down again this year,” explained tournament director Sandra Reichel.

In the original tournament week, the Upper Austria Ladies Linz would have been held the same week as the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells. “That’s why I really wanted a new date, and we have now found a great date in November. Now we have the chance to welcome a top-class field of players.”

Tickets to go on sale soon

Ticket pre-sale for the second-oldest WTA indoor tournament hosted by TipsArena Linz is scheduled to start at the end of September. Matches will be televised by Austrian TV channel ORF+.

“The tennis world will be live in Linz again. We are happy to be organizing the Upper Austria Ladies with the Province of Upper Austria, the City of Linz and our long-term, loyal partners and sponsors,” said Reichel.

“We also have already started to offer attractive side events. Of course, the safety of the visitors will come first. The Upper Austria Ladies Linz will definitely be a perfect spot for world-class women’s tennis and a meeting place for business and sport this year.”

Sabalenka champion in 2020
