ROTTERDAM, June 24, 2022 (Press Release)

ABN AMRO Open is the new name for the ATP Tour 500 event in Rotterdam Ahoy. The wheelchair tennis tournament, which is held simultaneously, also continues under the title. The name change is the start of the run-up to the 50th edition, which will take place from 11 to 19 February 2023.

Tournament Director Richard Krajicek said: “In recent years we have conducted extensive research into the significance of the tournament for sports fans in the Netherlands. Very helpful insights emerged here. In addition to the unique combination of top tennis and top wheelchair tennis under the same roof, the side events of the tournament particularly stand out. It is a sporting event where everyone feels welcome. We want to emphasize this open character even more.”

The wheelchair tennis tournament, with its fifteenth edition in 2023, will also continue under the name ABN AMRO Open. Esther Vergeer, Tournament Director of the wheelchair tennis tournament said: “It is a logical next step in the integration of the two tournaments. We’ve been playing in the same week for 15 years, with the same facilities and with the same fans, now both tournaments also share their name.”
