OEIRAS, May 14, 2023
For the fourth time this year, the ATP Challenger Tour returns to the Centro Desportivo Nacional Do Jamor in Oeiras, where the Portuguese Tennis Federation organizes, with the support of the Oeiras City Council, the Oeiras Open 4. The €73,000 clay-court tournament takes place between May 14th and 20th.
The field is led by World No. 68 Pedro Cachin of Argentina, who will start his title bid against a qualifier. Frenchman Hugo Gaston leads the bottom half of the draw. Home favourites Frederico Silva, Pedro Sousa and João Domingues received a wild card into the main draw.
Two weeks after reaching the first quarterfinal of the season, Silva will face Aleksandar Vukic. The World No. 127 from Australia is the sixth seed and will be one of the last players to land in Portugal, as he will still compete Sunday in the final of the Head Open Challenger in Busan, South Korea.
Sousa and Domingues’ opponents will only be known after the qualifying round is over. Lisbon native Sousa chose the Oeiras Open 4 as the last tournament of his career.
