SALINAS, July 22, 2023

The official presentation of the Challenger Salinas Copa Banco Guayaquil, which will be held from July 23 to 29 on the hard courts of the the Salinas Golf & Tennis Club in Ecuador, took place on Friday at the Hotel Colón Salinas.

Tournament director Andrés Gómez, organizer Luis Adrián Morejón, as well as the mayor of Salinas, Dennis Córdova, and the councilman of the same canton, Mauricio Ponce, attended the event.

“Perhaps what is most striking about this year’s tournament is the small number of Latin American tennis players. Perhaps because of the season and because the US Open is just a month and a half away from starting and many of these players are looking to enter the main draw. That is why we see Japanese, French, Australians, Jordanians, Kazakhs, Turks, Vietnamese, Americans and Koreans,” said Gomez regarding the entry list for this year’s edition edition of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 event.

“It is a totally different tournament, but the only thing we will have in common is that the tennis will continue to be of a good level and we expect great players to come out of this list this year,” added the 1990 Roland Garros champion.

Ecuador’s Emilio Gomez (World No. 138) and Japan’s Rio Noguchi (World No. 204) are the tournament’s top two seeds, along with them also stand out the Russian Evgeny Donskoy (World No. 243) as well as Ukrainian Illya Marchenko (World No. 320).
