The second wild card, to be awarded by the organizers for the main draw of the Generali Open in Kitzbühel, goes to last year’s finalist Filip Misolic. This was announced on Monday.

The 21-year-old from Austria is in excellent form, having reached the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Bastad, including a victory against Dusan Lajovic, and now securing qualification for the main draw in Umag.

“Filip absolutely deserves the wild card and demonstrated last year that he can excel not only in Kitzbühel but also handle the pressure with nerves of steel. He surprised and impressed us all,” explained tournament director Alexander Antonitsch. In 2022, Misolic-Mania took over Kitzbühel when the Styrian wild card entry made an impressive ATP debut, defeating Lajovic and Yannick Hanfmann in the quarterfinals and semifinals, only to be stopped by Roberto Bautista Agut in the final.

Another player who is currently captivating the audience is World No. 52 Sebastian Ofner. The 27-year-old highest-ranked player from Austria is enjoying the best season of his career and has been in top form, not just since his French Open round of 16 appearance. For the first time, Ofner will be traveling to Kitzbühel as a seeded player.

“Ofi has already thrilled the fans here when he reached the semi-finals in 2017. He feels comfortable in Kitzbühel,” added the tournament director. Ofner will also play doubles alongside Dominic Thiem.
