HAMBURG, September 4, 2023
Alexander Zverev, Daniel Altmaier, Yannick Hanfmann, Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz will represent Germany in the Davis Cup World Group I encounter in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This was announced by team captain Michael Kohlmann on Monday. The tie will be held from September 16 to 17 in Mostar.
“All five nominated players have shown strong performances during the European clay-court season and have played by far the best. Therefore, we are well-equipped with this team. I am confident that we will overcome the hurdle of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this constellation,” Kohlmann explained his decision.
“We will approach the match with confidence and full concentration to be part of the Qualifiers again in 2024. It is our clear goal to compete with the top nations for the top positions in the Davis Cup next year.”

Jan-Lennard Struff will not be part of the team in Mostar. The current German No. 2 is not an option for the squad after a long injury break. “I had a long conversation with Jan-Lennard, who would have liked to support us in Mostar, of course. However, we agreed that his participation in the Davis Cup at this point would be too early since he hasn’t played since Halle and has just started training again,” explained Kohlmann.
The matches will be played on clay at the Tennis Club Mostar. The tennis stadium in the sixth-largest city of the country has a seating capacity of about 1,000 spectators. Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina have never faced each other in the long history of the Davis Cup. Captain Zoran Zrnic‘s squad has only been part of the team competition since 1996. Their best result was reaching the World Group Play-Offs in 2018. Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently ranked 29th in the Davis Cup Nations Ranking.
