Alexis Galarneau of Canada prevailed over Alexander Ritschard from Switzerland to move on to the semi-finals of the $80,000 Tiburon Challenger presented by Raymond James Financial in a close and lengthy match on Friday. The No. 5 seed won 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-5 in two hours and 44 minutes.
Meanwhile, US-American Zach Svajda easily overcame his compatriot Nishesh Basavareddy 6-0, 6-2 to defending his title, ending the 17-year-old qualifier’s impressive run. Svajda faces Galarneau and Aussies Tristan Schoolkate and Adam Walton compete against each other on Saturday in the semi-finals.
William Blumberg from the United States and Luis David Martinez of Venezuela face Briton Luke Johnson and Skander Mansouri from Tunisia in the doubles final on Saturday.
