AUGSBURG/STARNBERG, December 18, 2023
The Schwaben Open, one of the most significant tennis tournaments held in the Bavarian part of Swabia, Germany, continues its success story in 2024. Following the successful relaunch this year, the ATP Challenger Tour 50 clay-court event is now back in full swing, promising another thrilling week of tennis for both players and fans alike.
The new tournament week spans from May 19 to May 25, 2024, coinciding with the Bavarian Pentecost holidays, providing families with the opportunity to be a part of the action at the picturesque venue of the TC Augsburg Siebentisch.
“We aim to make the Schwaben Open an event for the whole family and look forward to offering a diverse children’s program during the Bavarian Pentecost holiday week. It is important for us to pass on the enthusiasm for tennis from generation to generation,” said tournament director Hans Rußwurm.
Platform for the ‘stars of tomorrow’
The Schwaben Open not only offers top-class tennis but also provide spectators with the opportunity to experience the up-and-coming players. Young talents from the region and beyond have the chance to showcase themselves on the international stage and take important steps in the professional realm.
One particularly impressive success story is that of TC Augsburg Siebentisch homegrown talent Constantin Frantzen, who, alongside his long-time partner Hendrik Jebens, secured the doubles title at the 2023 edition. Following this, he went on to claim three more Challenger titles and reached his first final on the prestigious ATP Tour in Metz. Ranked 65th in the world, the 25-year-old will make his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open in January alongside his partner from Stuttgart.
