MUNICH, January 16, 2024

The BMW Open has been offering world-class tennis for over 100 years. The prestigious tennis tournament held at the MTTC Iphitos in Munich will be upgraded to ATP 500 status from 2025, part of an unprecedented set of reforms to strengthen the ATP Tour calendar. This decision was made at the end of last year as part of a comprehensive tender process in favor of the Bavarian tournament. With this change comes higher prize money (€2.5 million), a larger spectator capacity, and potentially an even more attractive player field. The promotion to the higher tournament category also signifies a long-term consolidation of the event’s position in the ATP calendar.

Long-term organizing contract – MMP Event has been in charge since 2014

MMP Event has been organizing and developing the BMW Open since 2014 and played a crucial role in shaping the application process for the higher tournament category. Now, the experienced event agency will continue to be responsible for the tournament in the long term starting from 2025: “We are very pleased to have MMP on board as the organizer and a strong partner for the new era. The mix of expertise, innovation, and passion that the team brings to the event and tennis promises a very successful future for our tournament,” says Dr. Fabian Tross, CEO of the majority licensee and host MTTC Iphitos.

As the event agency of the Seven. One Entertainment Group (ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE), MMP Event in Munich is well-equipped with a broad portfolio for the coming years: “On behalf of ProSiebenSat.1 and MMP, I can say that we are looking forward to the 500 category with great anticipation and even greater eagerness,” says Katharina Frömsdorf, Chief Platforms & Growth Officer of the Seven. One Entertainment Group / Managing Director of MMP Event. “The BMW Open is an absolute passion project. We are very much looking forward to further collaboration with MTTC Iphitos and thank them for their trust,” adds Christian Okon, Managing Director of MMP Event.
