Argentine veteran Facundo Bagnis has clinched the title of the Challenger AAT de TCA 2, the second consecutive $41,000 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event held at the Tenis Club Argentino in Buenos Aires. The No. 8 seed outlasted his compatriot and tournament’s top seed Mariano Navone 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 in Sunday’s singles final.

Bagnis broke his rival’s serve six times and won two points more to secure victory in two hours and 49 minutes.

The 33-year-old lefty from Rosario beat German alternate Timo Stodder, fellow Argentine Renzo Olivo, Liam Draxl of Canada and Dmitry Popko from Kazakhstan en route to the championship match.

“After each match, I did ice treatment, massage… it’s not just the two hours on the court. That work had an excellent outcome. And I would have been very happy even if I had lost. Beating Mariano, considering his good form, makes me even happier,” said Bagnis.

By lifting his 17th ATP Challenger career trophy, his first since Amabato, Ecuador in October 2022, Bagnis earned $5,660 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.
