The bottom half of the draw was in second-round action at the Ano II – Brasil Tennis Challenger on Wednesday. Swiss qualifier Kilian Feldbauch continued his good run of form this week in South America, as he defeated Germany’s Timo Stodder 7-6(3), 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals.

The World No. 452, who finished last season by reaching his first final on the ATP Challenger Tour in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria, withstood three aces and broke his rival’s serve two times to secure victory in one hour and 27 minutes.

Feldbausch, 18, will next challenge No. 2 seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli of Argentina, who eased past local wild card entry Mateus Alves 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and 43 minutes.

In other action, Felix Gill from Great Britain ousted eighth-seeded Italian Marco Cecchinato 7-5, 6-4. The 21-year-old leftie from Redditch capitalized on five of his 10 break-point chances to advance in two hours and 19 minutes.

Up next for Gill will be Ivan Gakhov of Russia. The No. 3 seed beat Gerard Campana Lee of South Korea 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 55 minutes.
