Kamil Majchrzak has clinched the title of the inaugural Rwanda Challenger, the first ATP Challenger Tour tournament held in Sub-Saharan Africa since 1990 in Nairobi, Kenya. The 29-year-old Polish, who entered the main draw of the $41,000 clay-court event with a wild card, defeated No. 4 seed Marco Trungelliti of Argentina 6-4, 6-4 in Saturday’s singles final at the Kicukiro Ecology Tennis Club in Kigali.

Majchrzak advances to the championship match with wins in the top half of the draw over Russian Bogdan Bobrov, Juan Pablo Paz of Argentina, third-seeded Frenchman Calvin Hemery and No. 7 seed Max Houkes from the Netherlands.
The World No. 652, who had been ranked inside the Top 100 before accepting a 13 months suspension under the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme, withstood seven aces and broke Trungelliti’s serve three times to secure victory in one hour and 33 minutes.

Following two triumphs on the ITF World Tennis Tour earlier this season, Majchrzak captured his fifth ATP Challenger career trophy, his first since 2022. He earned $5,660 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.
