Vallejo Advances To Sao Leo Open Final

Paraguayan teenager Adolfo Daniel Vallejo has reached his first ATP Challenger Tour final of the year and second of his career, beating No. 4 seed Felipe Meligeni Alves of Brazil 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 in Saturday’s stage of the last four at the Circuito Banco BRB/Engie De Tenis Profesional – Sao Leo Open.

The 19-year-old wild card entry sent down four aces and converted seven of his nine break-point chances to advance in two hours and 10 minutes.

Vallejo will play Enzo Couacaud of France for the title in Brazil. The 29-year-old knocked off top seed and defending Sao Leo Open champion Juan Pablo Varillas of Peru 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(2). Couacaud struck 14 aces and won 77 per cent of his first-service points to secure victory in two hours and 40 minutes.

Vallejo, who reached to top of the Juniors Rankings, is seeking his first title on the Pro Circuit. Couacaud could lift his third ATP Challenger career trophy, his first since Gran Canaria 2021. The pair will meet for the first time.

Demoliner/Luz triumph in doubles

In other action, Marcelo Demoliner and Orlando Luz claimed the doubles title. The second-seeded fought past Brazilians Canadian Liam Draxl and Alexander Weis of Italy7-5, 3-6, 10-8 in one hour and 45 minutes.

By earning their first team title, Demoliner and Luz split $4,665 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
