Three US-Americans advanced to the quarterfinals of the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship on Wednesday – No. 1 seed Ben Shelton, No. 5 seed Marcos Giron and 22-year-old Brandon Nakashima.

With Shelton set to face Nakashima in the quarterfinals, there will be at least one home favourite in the US Clay semifinals for the 22nd consecutive edition of the ATP Tour tournament, a treat that began when the tournament moved to Houston in 2001.
