STARNBERG, April 8, 2024
Novak Djokovic has set another record by surpassing his old rival Roger Federer on Sunday. At the age of 36 years and 321 days, the Serb is now the oldest tennis player ever to hold the World No. 1 spot in the ATP Rankings. Federer was one day younger when he last held the top ranking in the summer of 2018. The Swiss player ended his career in 2022.
Djokovic first became World No. 1 on July 4, 2011 when he was 24 years old. He has now held the number one position for a total of 420 weeks in his career, also a record. The Serb, with 24 Grand Slam titles, is also the record holder in that regard. Djokovic is competing this week at the Rolex Monte Carlo-Masters 1000 event.
