Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard of France and Colombian qualifier Nicolas Mejia have reached the singles final of the Morelos Open presentado por Metaxchange in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Mpetshi Perricard, No. 5 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 hard-court event, fought past Adam Walton of Australia 7-6(6), 5-7, 7-5 in the stage of the last four on Saturday.
The World No. 160 fired 31 aces and won 89 per cent of his first-service points to secure victory in two hours and 27 minutes.

“It was a very tough and difficult match for both of us,” said Mpetshi Perricard. “I am just happy to be in the final and think about the recovery for tomorrow.”
Mpetshi Perricard, 20, advanced to his third ATP Challenger championship match, winning the previous two finals he played in Leon, Mexico 2023 and Nottingham, United Kingdom earlier this season.
Earlier, Mejia defeated sixth-seeded US-American Maxime Cressy 7-6(6), 7-6(5). The 24-year-old South American outpointed his rival 93-86 after two hours and 40 minutes.
Indians triumph in doubles
In the doubles final at the Estadio Morelos, third-seeded Indians Jeevan Nehunchezhiyan and Arjun Kadhe defeated second favourites Piotr Matuszewski of Poland and Australian Matthew Christopher Romios 7-6(5), 6-4 in an hour and 25 minutes.
By lifting the trophy of the Morelos Open 2024 presentado por Metaxchange, the pair of Nehunchezhiyan and Kadhe achieved their first ATP Challenger title in doubles together. They split $4,665 in prize money and collected 75 ATP Ranking points.
